Overview
Transforming Nigerian Youths (TNY) is an initiative of the Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. It aims to build a network of entrepreneurial change-makers: women aged 18–35 running micro, small and medium enterprises across Nigeria. The platform is where that learning happens. Participants work through free, self-paced courses (Business Strategy, Marketing Management, Access to Market, Financial Management, Operations, Basic Accounting, HR, Legal and Regulatory Matters and more), each with lessons and an assessment, and receive a certificate once they complete their courses and submit a growth plan. Data is provided to support learning.

Challenge
Many young women running small businesses across Nigeria lack access to practical business training and mentorship, and traditional classroom programmes are hard to reach from every state and to fit around running a business. The programme needed a way to deliver quality training at scale, for free, on the devices participants already own.
Solution
We built a mobile-friendly learning management system: a free course catalogue covering the core areas of running a business, self-paced modules with lessons and assessments that can be retaken, interactive quizzes and peer-to-peer learning, personalised dashboards showing progress, upcoming courses and achievements, onboarding with emailed credentials, and downloadable certificates on completion.
Impact
Participants from across Nigeria, including Kano, Kaduna, Plateau and Delta, describe the change in their own words on the platform: managing their finances, keeping proper records, marketing with confidence and formally registering their businesses.
